I think this is witchcraft in a nutshell.

Sela

Sela

“Dear Lupa, Your awesomeness is killing me. I want to be buried in fox bits. Don’t ever stop” <3 Thorn”

thegreenwolf:

Possibly the best compliment I’ve gotten from a customer; she and her coven are regulars and I just sent another set of fox ears their way.

And I was not kidding. I’ve got several pieces from Lupa (all red fox) and I am always overwhelmed by how gorgeous her work is. One fox in particular (I’ve named her Sela) has become my most prized working tool. I love how each has a distinct personality and fits into life a little differently, be it through formal ritual, ecstatic dance, or just for play when I’m out and about in my day to day life. My friend MLE is now the very proud owner of a deer tail from Lupa, and it’s been fun to watch her carry it around and get to know it. This has really brought a fantastic new element to our magical practices, given us loads to talk about and explore, and all around just made life brighter and more interesting. You have grateful patrons in NC, Lupa!

As a funny aside, the other day I wore my tail to class and the professor was all like, “Well, at least when you get old you won’t have any problems being eccentric.”

He doesn’t even know.

Received my copy of Veneficium by Daniel Schulke (Three Hands Press) in the mail today (hardcover). I love the illustration on the hard cover SO much more than the dust jacket (which is equally amazing, believe-you-me!)

Haven’t gotten mine yet! Oh book anxiety!

I’ve made my Instagram account public, so now you people can see even more pictures of Oliver (etc., but mostly Oliver). Find me under the username stjoanofsnark

Had the new (Catholic with Buddhist leanings) boyfriend over last night for dinner and got to answer all of his good-natured questions about my being Wiccan. We went over some of the things on my altar, my bone and bits collection, and the reasons why my kitchen looks like an apothecary. He’d never heard of Paganism and didn’t realize that witchcraft was a thing that people actually do. He was curious and receptive and (as a massage therapist who has some working experience of energy movement) all about my shelf of stones and crystals. This is most promising.

“I like that your house looks like Halloween,” he says to me later. And then I tackled him with my face.

Thanks to Lupa, whose (always) gorgeous handiwork arrived in the mail today! My new fox friend is paired with her wonderful clip-on ears. All of this is in preparation for what will be our coven’s most epic family gathering.

Now go tell Lupa how amazing she is and check out her books and art:

In case you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Thorn is so smart and cute and she can cook like a mother fucker! Why is she single?”

This. This right here is why I’m single. I just can’t stop myself from engaging in this sort of public tomfoolery. I must be stopped.

That and I love Phil Collins with unabashed passion.
